cm b s yeddurappa june 25June 25: CM B. S. Yeddyurappa, who has been reprimanded by BJP chief Nithin Gadkari not to mix religion and politics, has announced that he will not take oath with JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy before Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala. K. S. Eshwarappa, the president of the state BJP, announced on behalf of the CM that he will not take the oath because it is against the culture of the party.

Gadkai, who had arrived in Bangalore to attend a Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) meeting, said that he had cautioned Yeddy against taking a truth test before God as it is not right to use religious places to settle political scores. Reportedly, Gadkari had a closed-door meeting with the CM and strongly disapproved of his habit of posting ads in newspapers.

The recent political battle between Kumaraswamy and Yeddyurappa was triggered when the JD (S) chief announced that Yeddyurappa had sent his emissary to purchase peace. The CM called a press conference, in which he flayed Kumaraswamy and challenged him to take a truth test before Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala on June 27. The challenge was accepted by Kumaraswamy.

While both made preparations for their truth test in Dharmasthala, religious leaders and seers reprimanded them and urged them to call it off. Finally, Gadkari convinced the CM of the soundness of settling political scores in a legal or political manner.
