The Chief Minister’s assurance came during his interaction with the media on his arrival at the Mangalore airport on March 18, Monday. Stating that he was aware of the widespread opposition to the mega project  on the grounds that it would cause  irreparable damage to the environment, the CM said all measures would be taken to see that locals are not affected.

Admitting that the state was facing power problems due to water shortage and also the technical defects at the Raichur plant, the CM assured that the government would leave no stone unturned in solving the problem.

On the poll prospects of the BJP in the ensuing assembly elections, the CM made it clear that the results of the ULB polls will not have any bearing on the assembly results, as he said only 22 per cent of voters had exercised their franchise in the ULB elections.
