Nation can progress when poverty is driven away from minds : Moily

Udupi, May 27, 2013 : We should drive away the poverty which is in our minds. The nation can prosper and progress when its citizens shed the feeling of helplessness, said M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum.
Participating in the platinum jubilee celebrations of Udupi Devadigara Seva Sangha at Devadiga Sabhabhavan, Chitpady on May 26, Sunday, Moily said every community can progress when there is equality.


Moily also promised government aid to schools which impart training in musical instruments, considering the fact that the Devadiga community has a large number of instrumentalists.
Urban Development Minister and Udupi District Minister Vinaykumar Sorake, exhorted the members of the Devadiga community to give more importance to education as it is the only way to progress.
Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram, who blessed the occasion appreciated the role of caste and community based organizations in the progress of the respective communities.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Ambalpady Temple Trustee, N. B Vijay Ballal, and others were present as chief guests.
Achievers of the community were felicitated by the Sangha’s Honorary President Dharmapal Devadiga.
Secretary Sridhar Devadiga, Treasurer, Ratnakar G S, Vice President, Seetaram Santhekatte, and others were present. Prior to the function a procession was taken out to the function venue from Sharadamba Temple at Chitpady.
