NIA team investigating Malegaon blasts interrogates local youth

Beltangady, Feb 21, 2012 : The National Investigative Agency (NIA) team, which has been investigating the bomb blasts in Goa during the Deepavali season of 2009 as well as the Malegaon blasts, arrived at Mangalore on Feb 20 Monday and arrested two young men of Totattady in Neriya for interrogation.

The duo was brought to the local police station on the evening of Monday and thoroughly interrogated.

The arrested are Vinay and Uday, the sons of Shanmugan of Aniyoor and relatives of Jayaprakash, who is among the chief accused in the Malegaon blast case, in which Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is also the main accused. The two used to live with Jayaprakash in Goa and Uday, who is still in Goa, had come to his native place just a few days back.

Jayaprakash of Kadaba had married a close relative of Vinay and Uday after which the two young men went to Goa to stay with Jayaprakash.

It is still not known where the two are directly related to the bomb blast or whether they were questioned about the whereabouts of Jayaprakash. The local people do not know much about the two young men except that they used to live in Goa and that one of them has moved to Bangalore while the other is still in Goa.

Reportedly, the young men belong to a family, which is closely associated with an ancient organization and the family are followers of the principles preached by this organization. They were also known to encourage others to join the organization. The local people are surprised that the two young men are even remotely linked to a criminal activity. 
 
The local people also recall that the NIA team had visited one year back, when the involvement of the local unit of a saffron organization in terrorist activities had been brought to light.

The local police say that they do not know anything about the NIA interrogation.
