New Delhi, May 4, 2026: The NEET-UG 2026 examination was held nationwide on Sunday, May 3, recording an overall turnout of nearly 97 per cent.
“NEET (UG) 2026 was conducted successfully across India today,” the National Testing Agency (NTA) said in a post on X.
It added that a nationwide turnout of 96.92 per cent—22,05,035 out of 22,75,011 candidates—across 37 States and Union Territories reflects the dedication of candidates and the trust placed in the examination.
The agency stated that elaborate arrangements were made to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the exam, including the deployment of invigilators, observers, centre superintendents and city coordinators, with support from district administrations and police authorities.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier visited the NTA headquarters to review preparedness and assess on-ground arrangements, officials said.
According to officials, the NTA conducted the examination for nearly 23 lakh registered candidates at centres across the country under strict protocols.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) remains one of India’s largest undergraduate entrance exams, serving as the gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS and other allied medical programmes across institutions nationwide.
