Mulki : Cops on lookout for JD(S) man accused of raping minor

Mangalore, June 15, 2013: Mulki police are on the lookout for a JD(S) booth committee president named Manjunath alias Kalla Manja who is wanted in connection with the rape of a minor girl at Lingappaiahkadu near Mulki. Police are also searching for one Manjula who abetted the crime.

manjinath 1 The incident is learnt to have taken place behind the government school at Lingappaiahkadu in Mulki on June 14, Friday. It is said, Manjunath, the son of a NMPT employee, and a suspected ganja addict had raped the girl, daughter of labourers from Dharwad, after Manjula invited her to the house and then locked the door. Manjunath who was inside had taken advantage of the minor girl and allegedly raped her.

The girl then returned home in a state of shock soon attempted suicide by consuming some chemical found in the house. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where it came to light that she was raped.

Investigations are underway.
