Moodbidri: Woman dies after head injury; relatives allege foul play

Moodbidri, Mar 12, 2026: A woman who was undergoing treatment in a hospital after sustaining a head injury died on Tuesday night, with her relatives alleging that the death is suspicious.

The deceased has been identified as Savita, wife of Dinesh, a resident of Vidyagiri in Puthige.

According to reports, Savita had suffered a serious head injury two days ago and had been admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

Her relatives have alleged that her husband Dinesh used to frequently assault her physically and claimed that he was responsible for her present condition as well. Based on their complaint, a case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station.

However, Dinesh and his two daughters reportedly told the police that Savita had sustained the injuries after falling and suffering a severe head injury.

Dinesh is said to be involved in land dealings. Savita’s mother had also been living with the family and had passed away about two years ago.

Overall, Savita’s relatives and neighbours have expressed suspicion regarding the circumstances of her death. The Moodbidri police have begun an investigation into the case.
