Moodbidri, Mar 17, 2026: A mini goods tempo driver died on the spot after a KSRTC bus collided with the vehicle near Beluvai on the Karkala–Moodbidri National Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Lester David D’Souza (30), a resident of Kelinje in Bantwal taluk.

Bus-Tempo accident

According to reports, the KSRTC bus was travelling from Moodbidri towards Karkala when it collided head-on with a mini goods tempo coming from the opposite direction, from Karkala towards Moodbidri. The impact of the crash was so severe that the tempo driver died at the scene.

Locals have alleged that the number of accidents in the area has increased due to the ongoing national highway construction work and the lack of a proper road diversion system.

Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation into the incident.
