Miscreants stone mosque at Konaje

Mangalore, Aug 16, 2013: An incident wherein unidentified miscreants stoned the Masjirussalam Mosque near Konaje has been reported on August 14, Wednesday night. The window panes of the mosque were shattered due to the stoning. Locals suspect this to be an attempt of disrupting communal harmony.

The incident took place at around midnight. Neighbouring people on hearing the sound, had informed the masjid management. When the Secretary Mohammad Iqbal rushed to the spot, he saw some people escaping in their bikes parked in front of the BCM Hostel. Even the doors of the mosque were damaged.

This is the second incident of stoning at this masjid.An earlier incident had been reported on February 11 night. Then it was suspected that this might be the handiwork of anti-Salafis in the backdrop of the Sunni-Salafi dispute which was raging.

Investigations are in progress.
