Mangalore, Nov 22, 2012: Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala of Ullal will organize the first Ullala Beach Festival on Nov 24 – 25 as part of its silver jubilee celebrations.
Bharath Kumar, president of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala Silver Jubilee Committee, told reporters at a press meet held at Summer Sands Beach Resort, that the newly built government aided Mogaveer Higher Primary School will be inaugurated on this occasion.


Speaking about the new school building, he said that it cost a total of Rs. 1.25 crore. The school was built because of the generous contribution of several donors. While the MRPL contributed Rs. 25 lakh, the state government contributed Rs. 3.30 lakh for this project.
Giving a brief introduction to the activities of the Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala, which was launched 25 years back, he said that the association organizes a number of social welfare activities such as blood donation camps, free health check up camps, distribution of free books and uniforms, and so on. The club donated Rs. 20 lakh to the construction of the school, he added.
Stating that the organization has earmarked Rs. 35 lakh for the festival, he said that the government has not contributed a single rupee. A number of donors and well-wishers provided the required funds, he added.
The beach festival will include a wide range of events such as a dance festival, a star evening, a kite show, beach games, a food festival, water sports, and others.
A beach throwball tournament will mark the beginning of this event on Nov 24, followed by a Kabbaddi tournament and a kite show in the afternoon. The school will be inaugurated at 5:00 p.m., after which Vijayaprakash of the Oscar award winner movie Slum Dog Millionaire will present a musical nite. Vilas Nayak, the noted artist who emerged as the finalist of India’s Got Talent, will organize a painting exhibition.
Various competitions such as boat racing, swimming, sand sculpture, and others will be held on Nov 25. As many as 20 teams are expected to take part in the dance festival. Actors Jennifer Kotwal and Tennis Krishna are also expected to take part in the event.
The organizers expect over one lakh people to visit the venue and have done all the required arrangements such as parking and traffic diversion.
Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala President Sandeep Puthran and Rajesh Bangyar were also present.
