Mangaluru: Youth arrested for posting communal content linked to Suhas Shetty murder case

Mangaluru, Mar 26, 2026: In connection with the Suhas Shetty murder case, police have arrested a youth for allegedly sharing and promoting communally provocative posts on social media in the days following the incident last year in Mangaluru city.

The arrested has been identified as Pavan Acharya (22), a resident of Moodubelle village in Kapu taluk of Udupi district. According to police, the accused had posted inflammatory content through a social media account named “TN-MADDY.”

Kankanady Town Police arrested the accused on March 25 and produced him before the court. The court has remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.

A case had earlier been registered at Kapu Police Station in Udupi district (Crime No. 95/2025) for posting communally provocative content on social media. Based on additional evidence obtained from the cyber team, police carried out the arrest.
