Mangaluru, May 4, 2026: A case has been registered at Bajpe police station against a Bengaluru-based woman, identified as Sandhya, for allegedly obstructing police personnel while they were on duty.

According to police, a large crowd had gathered at Kateel temple on Friday due to a holiday. To manage traffic, heavy vehicles were diverted towards Kinnigoli from Malligeyangadi junction, while only light vehicles were permitted to proceed towards the temple.

Woman booked

In the afternoon, Sandhya, who was travelling in a tempo traveller, reportedly argued with police officers and insisted that her vehicle be allowed to proceed towards the temple. Despite being informed about the traffic arrangements, she allegedly stood in the middle of the road, disrupting vehicular movement.

In his complaint, Chidananda Kate of Bajpe police station stated that the woman verbally abused police personnel in public while they were in uniform and interfered with their duties. She also allegedly threatened the officers, saying they had come from Bengaluru and would “teach them a lesson” by recording videos and posting them on social media.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
