Mangaluru: ‘Vasant Sangeetotsava’ enthrals hundreds with Hindustani classical performances

Mangaluru, Mar 18, 2026: Over 500 music enthusiasts gathered at the air-conditioned Sujeer C. V. Nayak Auditorium here on Sunday for ‘Vasant Sangeetotsava’, a captivating four-hour Hindustani classical music concert.

The event was jointly organised by the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Seva Sangha in association with Sri Narayani Sangeet Kala Kendra. The evening featured soulful vocal performances by young artistes Vidushi Nandita Pai, Vibha Nayak, Shanteri Kamath and Vidushi Megha Pai, who impressed the audience with their renditions. A unique highlight was the presentation of Konkani compositions set to traditional classical ragas.

Adding to the musical charm, young flautist P. Karthik Bhat delivered a mesmerizing bansuri recital. The performers were ably accompanied by Srivatsa Bhat and Rajesh Bhagwat on tabla, and Medha Bhat and Hemant Bhagwat on harmonium.

GSB Seva Sangha President Dr. Kasturi Mohan Pai also performed as a guest artiste during the programme.

The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, including Dr. Kasturi Mohan Pai, Seva Sangha Secretary Dr. Ramesh Pai A., Treasurer Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, and Sri Narayani Sangeet Kala Kendra Founder Vidushi Nandita Pai. Other guests present included Yajnawant Pai, Jaya Kamath of Ideal Ice Cream, Kiran Kumar Nayak of NKGSB Co-operative Bank, and Poornachandra Naidu of Union Bank.

The programme was compered by Suchitra S. Shenoy and Mangala Bhat, while M. R. Kamath and Govindaraya Prabhu introduced the artistes.

The performers were later felicitated by a panel of dignitaries, including Dr. Kasturi Mohan Pai, B. R. Shenoy, G. Madhavaraya Prabhu, Aravind Acharya, Vijayachandra Kamath, Mohandas Pai and Pratima Prabhu, in recognition of their contributions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ramesh Pai. Sponsors for the programme included NKGSB Co-operative Bank, Ideal Ice Cream, Union Bank, School Book Company, and Bharat Group of Companies.
