Mangaluru, May 7, 2026: Personnel of the CID Forest Mobile Squad, Mangaluru, arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to sell pangolin scales near Kadri Park on May 5.
Acting on a tip-off about the illegal sale of pangolin scales, the team conducted a raid at around 3 pm near Kadri Park. The accused were found inside a white Maruti Swift car bearing registration number KA-05-MS-1049.
During the inspection, officials confirmed that the trio was attempting to sell pangolin scales illegally. The police immediately apprehended the accused, seized the contraband and the vehicle, registered a case, and produced them before the court. The accused were later remanded to judicial custody.
The police seized 5.200 kg of pangolin scales and the Maruti Swift car, collectively valued at around Rs 3 lakh.
The arrested persons have been identified as H.R. Jagadish (50) of Bengaluru South, Siddu Naik (38) of Kanakapura, and Babu (48) of Banashankari, Bengaluru.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of the Inspector General of Police, CID Forest Cell, Bengaluru, and Superintendent of Police, CID Forest Cell, Madikeri, Pavan Nellore IPS. The raid was led by Police Sub-Inspector Dileep G.R. of the CID Forest Mobile Squad, Mangaluru, along with staff members Taranath S and Abdul Ravoof.
