Mangaluru, Sep 18, 2025: On the morning of September 13th, a case was filed at the Kankanady City Police Station regarding the theft of a cross-bred Jersey cow from the courtyard of Umesh Alva’s house in Adyar, Tajjipodi, Mangalore. The cow, which had been stolen, was located alive through a swift operation conducted by the Kankanady police, who successfully arrested the accused individuals.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shabaz Ahmed from Adyar, Kannuru resident, Mohammed Suhaan from Arkul Valachil, and Khader Mohammed from Valachil, Adyar.
According to the police, Shabaz Kannuru and Suhaan Valachil stole the cow and sold it to Valachil Khader. Khader had intended to slaughter the animal for meat. However, the police were able to intervene in time, rescue the cow, and arrest the accused.
It is worth noting that Shabaz Ahmed from Kannuru already has a criminal history, including a case of murder, two attempted murders, and a robbery in the Mangalore Rural and Kankanady Police Stations. Similarly, Mohammed Suhaan from Arkul is facing an NDPS Act case in the Ullal Police Station, and Valachil Khader Mohammed, also known as Koli Mohammed from Adyar, has a registered case of cow slaughter in the Mangalore Rural Police Station in 2024.
The police further revealed that the stolen cow was taken to the shed at the residence of Valachil Abdul Khader, where it was prepared for slaughter. As per the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Protection Order, 2020, the authorities have seized the location and initiated legal proceedings in compliance with government orders.
This quick action by the police has resulted in the apprehension of the accused and the prevention of the cow from being slaughtered.
