Mangaluru, July 11, 2025: As part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and consumption, Mangaluru City Police have registered 40 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2025 so far, arresting 67 accused and seizing drugs worth ₹1,36,35,650.
The seized contraband this year includes 145.324 kg of ganja, 319.976 grams of MDMA, 13 grams of MDMA tablets, 756.52 grams of hydro weed ganja, and several other narcotic substances.
Earlier this year, on January 15, a major anti-drug operation led to the destruction of 335.460 kg of ganja, 7.640 kg of MDMA, and 16 grams of cocaine — with a combined street value of ₹6,80,86,558.
Continuing these efforts, a drug destruction programme was conducted on July 10 at Re Sustainability Healthcare Solutions Ltd., located in the Kolnadu industrial area of Mulki, Dakshina Kannada. The destruction was carried out with court approval and included drugs seized in 23 cases from nine police stations under the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. A total of 21.320 kg of ganja and 60 grams of MDMA were incinerated.
In addition to tackling drug trafficking, police have also taken action against consumers. So far in 2025, a total of 335 cases have been registered against 376 individuals for drug consumption under the NDPS Act.
