Mangaluru, July 18, 2025: Under the leadership of the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, a major late-night operation on Thursday led to the arrest of an accused involved in defrauding businessmen and wealthy individuals of crores of rupees.
The arrested accused has been identified as Roshan Saldanha (45), a resident of Jappinamogaru. He was arrested on Thursday night by a team led by City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy and ACP Ravish Nayak, according to reports.
Roshan posed as a businessman and targeted wealthy individuals from other districts and states by luring them with land deals and loan offers. It is revealed that he carried out transactions worth ₹45 crore in just three months. Police stated that over the past few years, he is suspected to have cheated people out of more than ₹200 crore.
He would invite potential victims to his luxurious bungalow in Jappinamogaru and conduct business meetings there. According to police, he used to strike deals ranging from ₹5 crore to ₹100 crore.
After initial discussions, he would collect ₹5–10 crore as stamp duty or advance amount for large transactions of ₹50–100 crore or more. Once he received the amount he intended, he would make excuses and evade further dealings with the victims.
Police further revealed that Roshan used to take between ₹50 lakh to ₹4 crore from individuals who fell into his trap, and would later vanish without a trace.
The police were stunned by what they found in the accused’s residence — expensive exotic plants, luxury champagne, and a stockpile of high-end liquor.
The grand bungalow featured lavish interiors and secret compartments, with CCTV surveillance installed throughout the house, as per police sources.
