Mangaluru, Dec 10, 2025: The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (AI & ML) at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, in collaboration with the SHINE Foundation under the GENESIS Scheme, hosted the AI & Quantum Symposium titled “BHARAT SHAKTI: Catalysing Innovation for an Aspirational Bharat”. The event brought leading experts in Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Science, and emerging technologies to share insights on India’s rapidly advancing technological landscape.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Pushpalatha K., Head of the Department, followed by the presidential remarks from Principal Dr. S. S. Injaganeri, who highlighted the growing importance of innovation, curiosity, and active student engagement in nation-building through technology.
The inaugural ceremony featured the traditional lighting of the lamp by students of the AI & ML department along with distinguished guests—Prof. P. C. Deshmukh, Quantum Scientist at IIT Madras and IIT Tirupati and Advisor at Bharat WHYTEC; Shri Madhav Bissa, Director of Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences at nasscom.ai; Prof. Udaya Birje Raghunath, Cofounder of ThinkStreet Technologies; Principal Dr. Injaganeri; and Dr. Pushpalatha.
Prof. Udaya Birje Raghunath delivered an insightful session centred on strengthening Aatma Nirbhar Bharat through indigenous technological development. Emphasizing Mangaluru’s potential as a rising tech hub, he encouraged students to embrace authentic leadership and innovation.
In an interactive talk, Shri Madhav Bissa spoke about intelligent systems and agentic AI, urging students to equip themselves with future-ready skills and understand AI’s far-reaching impact on India’s digital transformation.
Prof. P. C. Deshmukh offered a compelling vision of the future of quantum technologies, underscoring their ability to revolutionize global computing. He highlighted the growing relevance of quantum encryption in building secure and resilient digital ecosystems and outlined emerging research opportunities for aspiring technologists.
The event concluded with the felicitation of Principal Dr. Injaganeri by the resource persons, acknowledging Sahyadri’s significant role in fostering research, innovation, and a robust technology ecosystem. The symposium was coordinated by Dr. Sadhana Rai, Prof. Shruthi Vishwajeeth, and Prof. Sowmya Kulal.
