Mangaluru, Aug 5, 2025: KSRTC employees have called for a strike on Tuesday demanding a pay revision and payment of pending arrears. Labor leaders said the Mangaluru division is also likely to respond to the strike call, though officials stated that the impact is expected to be minimal.
Advance bookings for long-distance travel on Tuesday have dropped sharply compared to regular days. However, services on Monday remained normal with no disruptions, and all buses operated as usual, said Rajesh Shetty, KSRTC Mangaluru Division Controller.
Due to a High Court order, the possibility of employees going on strike is low. If the strike is carried out, disciplinary action may be taken against the workers. Employees have been informed about this and efforts have been made to persuade them, he added.
The Mangaluru division has around 1,900 employees, and the union has instructed all of them to participate in the strike, said Praveen, president of the KSRTC Staff and Workers Union, Mangaluru division, noting that the directive came from the central office of the organization.
On Monday night, the Mangaluru bus stand witnessed only a few travelers, possibly due to the anticipated strike. Some passengers were seen inquiring about the strike with officials at the bus stand, but the authorities responded that they did not have confirmed information.
