Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner, who also serves as the Administrator of the Mangaluru City Corporation, Darshan H.V., presented the budget for the financial year 2026–27 on Thursday at the corporation’s Mangala Hall.

The budget, including the opening balance, is estimated at ₹937.69 crore. Of this, expenditure is projected at ₹781.51 crore, resulting in a surplus budget of approximately ₹156.17 crore.

While presenting the budget, Darshan H.V. read out the entire budget document and provided detailed insights. For the financial year 2025–26, total revenue of ₹644.64 crore had been anticipated, of which ₹342.25 crore had been collected by the end of December 2025. On the expenditure side, out of the projected ₹789.72 crore, ₹393.47 crore had been spent by December-end, sourced from the corporation’s own revenue and government grants.

For 2026–27, the corporation expects to generate ₹337.25 crore from its own sources. This includes ₹90 crore from property tax, ₹55 crore from water charges, ₹26 crore from solid waste management tax, ₹26.48 crore from other revenues, ₹26 crore from building permits and premium FAR, ₹7.31 crore from market loans, ₹15 crore from bank interest, ₹5.47 crore from rent and other lease income, and ₹3 crore from road-cutting and restoration charges.

Additionally, grants of ₹199.23 crore are expected from the state government towards salaries, SFC untied funds, direct wage payments to civic workers, and stamp duty surcharge, among other schemes. From the central government, ₹93.36 crore is anticipated under schemes such as AMRUT 2.0 (Jal Hi Amrit), NULM, Swachh Bharat Mission, 15th Finance Commission grants, 16th Finance Commission, and NGT-related funds.
