Mangaluru, December 9, 2025: The CPI(M) Dakshina Kannada District Committee organized a massive rally and public meeting under the slogan “People’s March Towards a Better Life” from Ambedkar Circle to the Mini Vidhana Soudha, urging the government to resolve the district’s pressing issues related to education, healthcare, employment, housing, and overall development. Thousands of CPI(M) workers participated in the march, drawing significant public attention.
CPI(M) district secretary Muneer Katipalla, who inaugurated the public meeting, said that the common people, workers, Dalits, and tribals have been excluded from the district’s development. He alleged that private medical colleges, corporate hospitals, private educational institutions, and real estate interests have taken full control of the district’s political landscape. Public representatives are dancing to the tune of these vested interests, he said.
He expressed concern that due to the complete privatization of the health and education sectors, common people are being deprived of essential services. Government cancer and cardiac hospitals like Kidwai and Jayadeva are yet to become a reality in Mangaluru, and public hospitals such as Wenlock are gradually moving under the influence of private medical colleges, he added.
Highlighting unemployment, he said educated youth are migrating to Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gulf countries for survival, where they face uncertain and often difficult living conditions. However, district politicians remain indifferent to their struggles, he alleged.
He further criticized BJP MLAs, stating that instead of focusing on resolving these serious issues, they are spending their time at extravagant events like Kambala, tiger dance festivals, dosa fairs, and food festivals. He also accused the defeated Congress candidates of competing with the BJP by organizing similar cultural events instead of standing up as the voice of the people against the MLAs’ failures.
