Mangaluru, July 23, 2025: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a man who had been absconding after securing bail in connection with 24 criminal cases. The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Abdul Fayaan (27).
Fayaan was involved in multiple cases and had been evading court appearances after being released on bail. On July 22, 2025, the CCB police apprehended him and handed him over to Barke Police Station for further legal action.
The accused had taken a house on rent in Mangaluru and was wanted in various criminal cases registered across several police stations in Mangaluru City and Dakshina Kannada district. These included theft, attempted murder, assault on prison staff, and obstruction of duty during judicial custody.
He had committed thefts in government offices, schools, and shops and was involved in violent incidents inside the prison, including attacking fellow inmates and attempting to assault prison officials.
After being released on bail by the court, he failed to appear for hearings and went into hiding. In total, 24 warrants have been issued against him across police stations in Konaje and Ullal (Mangaluru Commissionerate limits) and in Bantwal Town, Bantwal Rural, Uppinangady, Kadaba, and Puttur (Dakshina Kannada district).
Several other cases against him are also said to be registered in different police stations in Kerala. Officers and personnel of the CCB unit were involved in the operation to trace and arrest him.
