Mangaluru: Burglary at police quarters; valuables stolen

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Jan 31, 2026: A burglary has been reported at the police residential quarters located in front of the Town Hall in Mangaluru, where miscreants broke into a house and made away with valuables.

The incident occurred at the Police Line A1 Block. The house belongs to Samarth, who works at the Dakshina Kannada district control room. He had gone to his native place on leave. Taking advantage of his absence, burglars broke open the door, ransacked the Godrej cupboard in the house, and fled with several valuable items.

Theft

Upon being informed, the police visited the spot and inspected the house. No major damage to the premises was found. PSI-1 and crime staff from the South Police Station were present at the scene and have initiated further action, sources said.

It has also been noted that all three gates of the police line remain open and there is a lack of strict security, with people from neighbouring Kerala frequently moving in and out. Local residents have urged the department to strengthen security measures, warning that timely action could help prevent any untoward incidents in the future.
