With the first batch now sold out, the passports are currently unavailable. Officials said an additional 500 Philately Passports are expected to be allotted to Mangaluru by the end of this month.

Four Dakshina Kannada landmarks included

The Philately Passport highlights four historical and cultural landmarks from Dakshina Kannada district — Mangaluru Lighthouse (Pandeshwar Post Office), Rani Abbakka of Ullal (Ullal Post Office), Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple (Kateel Post Office), and Nandalike Muddanna (Belmannu Post Office).

Visitors can explore these sites, learn about their historical significance, and then visit the designated post offices to obtain a special commemorative postal seal in their passport.

Overall, the Philately Passport features 100 historical and heritage landmarks from across Karnataka.

About the Philately Passport

Introduced by the Karnataka Postal Circle in November 2024, the Philately Passport is a pocket-sized booklet designed to encourage tourism and promote the hobby of stamp collection.

Available in English, Kannada and Hindi, the booklet enables travellers to collect postal seals from 100 historical destinations across Karnataka. Each section contains a brief description of a landmark, with space to affix the corresponding postage stamp and receive a special seal from the designated post office.

The initiative blends heritage tourism with philately, offering visitors a unique way to preserve memories of their travels while exploring Karnataka’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
