Mangaluru: Bajpe youth stab case - Four arrested

Mangaluru, Nov 26, 2025: Police have arrested four persons involved in a sword attack on a youth at Edapadavu on Monday.

The arrested have been identified as Sinan from Mangaluru Port area, Irshad from Venur, Suhail Akram from Vamanjoor, and Nisan from Pilikula, Vamanjoor.

According to police, Akhilesh, a resident of Edapadavu Poopadikallu, was travelling from Poopadikallu towards Mangaluru when he noticed four men on a single two-wheeler carrying knives. When he attempted to record a video of them on his mobile phone, the accused noticed it and attacked him on the road. Akhilesh sustained injuries on his hand and was treated in the hospital. Locals caught one of the accused and handed him over to the police. A case was registered at Bajpe police station.

Among the arrested, Sinan was caught by the public at the spot and handed over to the police. Bajpe police later arrested Irshad, while Suhail Akram and Nisan were arrested by the Mangaluru CCB team. All four accused were arrested within four hours of the incident.

Police Commissioner said that Akram and Nisan already had cases related to ganja (cannabis) against them. Hence, apart from attempted murder charges, they have also been booked under the NDPS Act.

Sinan has seven criminal cases registered against him in various police stations in the district, including theft, ganja transport and sale, and attempted murder.

Irshad, Akram, and Nisan also have multiple theft and ganja-related cases registered against them in different police stations, police said.
