US-based doctor loses gold jewellery worth Rs 1 crore at Bengaluru wedding

Bengaluru, Apr 27, 2026: A US-based doctor has reportedly lost gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 1 crore during a family wedding at a marriage hall in Bengaluru, police said.

The incident took place on April 22 between 7.30 pm and 11.30 pm at SDP Palace on Old Madras Road in Bidarahalli.

The complainant, Dr Siruvella Sridevi, had arrived in the city from the United States on April 18 to attend her nephew’s wedding. She had brought around 725 grams of gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 1 crore and was staying at her brother’s house in Ganganagar.

According to her complaint, after wearing some of the ornaments for the function, the remaining jewellery was kept inside a locked room at the wedding hall. However, when she returned later, the valuables were found missing.

Dr Sridevi also informed police that while getting ready, she had noticed a domestic worker employed at the wedding hall entering the room.

Based on the complaint, the Avalahalli Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
