Kadaba: Youth drowns in Kumaradhara River, body recovered after search

Kadaba, Apr 28, 2026: The body of a 26-year-old youth who went missing after being swept away by strong currents in the Kumaradhara River on Monday evening has been recovered.

The deceased has been identified as Rakshith (26), son of Manju and a resident of Mardhala.

According to reports, Rakshith had gone to Arabi Thodu in Aithoor village along with his friends for a bath on Monday evening when the incident occurred. Although he knew how to swim, he reportedly got caught in the strong water current and drowned, locals said.

Soon after the incident, his friends and local residents informed the police. Kadaba police and fire and emergency services personnel from Puttur rushed to the spot and launched a search operation with the help of locals.

The search operation faced difficulties due to darkness. Later in the night, renowned rescuer Eshwar Malpe and his team arrived at the location and continued the operation. They reportedly recovered Rakshith’s body from a depth of around 30 feet.
