Mangaluru: Attempt to assault Suhas Shetty murder accused in district prison

Mangaluru, May 20, 2025: An attempt to assault Naushad, the accused in the rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty murder case, took place at the District Prison on Monday evening.
It is learnt Naushad alias Vamanjoor Naushad alias Chotte Naushad was attacked with stones and other things while he was being shifted to Mysuru jail on Monday evening. The jail personnel immediately thwarted the assault attempt.
Naushad’s police custody period had ended on Monday and police were in the process of shifting him to Mysuru jail after producing him before the court when the assault took place.
A case has been registered in Barke police station as per the complaint lodged by the jail superintendent.
Sources revealed that the attempt to assault Naushad was part of a larger conspiracy to retaliate against the murder of Suhas Shetty.
Security in the district prison has been strengthened following the incident.
