Beltangady, June 26, 2026: Passengers had a narrow escape after a car crashed into an electricity pole in Sulkeri village of Belthangady taluk on Friday morning, leaving the vehicle completely mangled.
According to reports, the Maruti Suzuki car was travelling along the highway when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to ram into a roadside concrete electricity pole. The impact was so severe that the pole snapped and collapsed onto the car, crushing its front portion.
The bonnet, bumper, and engine compartment were extensively damaged in the accident. Despite the severity of the crash, the occupants escaped with minor injuries.
The collision also snapped power lines, disrupting electricity supply in the area. MESCOM personnel rushed to the spot and took up restoration work.
The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police are yet to release an official update on their condition.
Traffic police from Beltangady visited the accident site and conducted an inspection. Further investigation is underway.
