Mangaluru, Sep 29, 2025: Personnel of the Mangaluru South Police Station Crime Detection Squad, including Head Constable Puttaram C.H. and Constable Mallik John (No. 2367), acting on credible information, intercepted a group of Kerala students around 7:45 p.m. The group—identified as Adyath Sreekanth, Muhammed Afrin, Muhammed Smanid, and others—had allegedly procured banned narcotic ganja in commercial quantity and stored it in Flat No. G1 of King Court Apartments near Kaprigudde Mosque, Attavara, with the intention of selling it to the public.
Based on the information, a case was registered under the NDPS Act (Crime No. 206/2025, Section 8(c) read with Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985).
A swift operation led by PSI Sheetal Alagur and her team resulted in a raid on the apartment, during which the accused—Adyath Sreekanth, Muhammed Afrin, Muhammed Smanid, Nibin T. Kurian, Muhammed K.K., Muhammed Hanan, Muhammed Shamil, Arun Thomas, Muhammed Nihal C., Muhammed Jaseel V., and Sidhan P.—were arrested.
All the accused are second-year BBA students of a college in Mangaluru. During the raid, police seized around 12.264 kg of ganja packed in seven packets (estimated value Rs 2,45,280), two digital weighing machines worth Rs 2,000, and other materials. In total, property worth Rs 3,52,280, including Rs 1,05,000 in cash, was confiscated from the accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of ACP Pratap Singh Thorat, Central Sub-Division, and the supervision of Mangaluru South Police Station Inspector Gururaj, PSI Sheetal Alagur, and PSI Maruti P., with the support of station staff.
