Bengaluru: Kannada TV actress secretly filmed in washroom, blackmailed for money

Bengaluru, Feb 18, 2026: A Kannada television actress has alleged that she was secretly filmed inside a washroom and later blackmailed by an unidentified person, police officials said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident took place on February 7 when the 32-year-old actress was attending an event at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium.

In her complaint, the actress stated that she went to use the women’s restroom inside the stadium, where an unknown individual allegedly recorded an obscene and indecent video of her without her knowledge.

Police said the video was later sent from an unidentified Instagram account to the Instagram account of her friend, Amrutha.

“The unidentified person sent messages to my friend Amrutha, mistakenly believing that the Instagram account belonged to me. This has caused me severe mental distress and harmed my reputation,” the actress stated in her complaint.

She further alleged that the accused blackmailed her for money and threatened to leak the video. A case has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bengaluru, and an investigation is underway.
