Mangalore, Feb 28, 2012: Ponnuraj, the officer-in-charge for implementing the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, has directed all officials to be ready for its implementation in Dakshina Kannada from March 1.
This Act promises services to citizens without unreasonable delay.
Speaking at a meeting held at the DC’s office on Feb 27 Monday, he said that Puttur has been listed as the place where the Act will be implemented on a trial basis, owing to which all the required information has been collected from officials in Puttur.
Training sessions have already commenced, he said, adding that a training program will be held at the district training centre on Tuesday. Ponnuraj voiced his opinion that this act will be more easily implemented in computerized departments.
He said that, according to the Act, officials can be penalized if they fail to provide immediate service.
Officials related to the police, health, public instruction, and other departments were present and provided information on how far their respective departments were computerized.
Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the CEO of ZP; Dr. Harish Kumar, the commissioner of MCC; and Dayanand, the additional deputy commissioner, were also present.
