Mangalore, Dec 12, 2013:  Rich tributes were paid to Rev. Fr Alexander Dubois, the Founder of Cordel Church, on the occasion of his 136th death anniversary at Holy Cross Church, Kulshekhar on December 11, Wednesday. 

Rev Fr Valerian Pinto, Parish Priest of the Church, blessed the new alter built at ‘Garden of Gethsemane’ to commemorate the bi-centenary celebrations of Fr Dubois who was popularly known as Frad Saib.

Rev. Fr Onil D’Souza, Director of St Antony Orphanage, in his Homily, said Rev Fr Alexander Dubois had come from Rouen (France) to spread the message of the Lord to the people and to serve the mankind by setting aside all barriers of caste, creed and religion.

  The silver jubilee issue entitled ‘Cordechen Zaith’ brought out by the Church was released by Rev. Fr Elias D’Souza who was the Parish Priest of the church in the year 1988.

 Fr Vishal Monis, Fr Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priests. Susheel Noronha, Convenor of the Celebrations, Praveen Patrao, Vice President of the Parish and a number of nuns and priests who served the Church over the years, were present on the occasion.


Thousands of devotees also took part in the holy mass and Eucharist procession.
