Mangalore, Apr 15, 2013: Malani Talkies in association with Alliance Franchise De Mangalore will host first Mangalore Film Festival at Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work, on April 21, Sunday from 9 am to 8 pm.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on April 15, Monday, Film Director Sandeep Malani said that Indian Cinema turns 100 years on April 21. Raja Harishchandra was the first film that was released on this day, hundred years ago.
He also said that for Karnataka region, it has been 80 years of Kannada Cinema, 60 yrs of Konkani Cinema and 40 yrs of Tulu Cinema.
The stars including the local artists will attend the event, while the Mangalorean Bollwood stars will also give a message to Mangaloreans on film festival. As part of the event, local Tulu theatre personalities including Vijay Kumar Kodialbail and Devdas Kapikad will be felicitated.
Sandeep Malani will also screen his films ‘Jo Jo Laali’ (Kannada, the award winning film on HIV Aids), ‘Janleva 555’ (Hindi) and will also showcase his other Hindi film Woh 5 Din, starring newcomers.
Other films scheduled for screening include Byaari, Oriyordori Asal, Shaale, Ksheeranjali and a few short films from aspiring film-makers.
The main attraction of the event will be the Premiere of his latest Musical Presentation, Yash Raj Heroines De Jayenge, a glorious musical tribute to Yash Chopra, he added.
Larkins Dsouza is the cordinator of Alliance Française de Mangalore and Sandeep Malani’s son Silver was present at the present.
