Mangalore, Oct 9, 2013 : The death of a passenger who suddenly fell ill while travelling in the Nizamuddin-Ernakulam train on October 7, Monday night, triggered protest by the train passengers at the Mangalore Junction station when the train arrived there.
The complaint of the irate passengers was that the railway authorities despite request had failed to provide medical treatment to the sick passenger, resulting in his death. The protest resulted in chaos and the train left for Ernakulam behind schedule by a couple of hours after railway authorities pacified the passengers.
The deceased passenger has been identified as Chandran Pillai (55). According to reports, Chandran who all of a sudden fell ill died when the train reached the Mangalore Junction on Monday night.
As per information available, he resided at Trilokapuri in Delhi and was on way to Kollam where his brother resided. His family members were contacted by the railway authorities. He was engaged in surgical equipment business.According to train passengers, he fell ill when the train neared Madagaon.
