Mangalore : Chaos at KJP meet over ticket distribution

Mangalore, April 10, 2013: It seems, now it is the turn of the KJP after the Congress, as far as clashes over ticket distribution is concerned.  The KJP meet held on April 9, Tuesday saw     a fracas among party workers on the issue.

 

 

 

The KJP has already announced its candidates for five out of the eight constituencies in the district namely Mangalore, Mangalore South, Mangalore North, Bantwal and Sullia. Very soon there was resentment by the local unit which argued that the list given by it was not taken into consideration.

On Tuesday, a meeting held in this regard in the party office, Tuesday witnessed some chaotic scenes.

One of the ticket aspirants   alleged that a district secretary had demanded cash  in exchange for ticket. Several other leaders took the district secretary to task over this resulting in a clash.

As  confusion prevailed for some time, leaders had a tough time  trying to pacify the agitated members.

A demand was also heard at the meeting that the already announced list be withheld and a new list be released taking into cognizance the recommendations of the local committee. Some even observed that they may have to quit enmasse if the state leaders failed to consider their demands.

District President Ravindra Shetty Harekala, leaders Mariamma Thomas, Azeez Baikampady, Gurucharan Hegde and others were present.
