Mandd Sobhann to present Konkani Global Music Awards

Mangalore, Dec 6, 2011 :  During a press conference held today at 10:45 a.m. at Press Club, Mangalore, it was revealed that Mandd Sobhann will present the Konkani Global Music Awards for the third successive year at an award ceremony, scheduled to be held on Dec 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Kalaangann.

The awards will be presented in six categories, namely, Best Female Singer, Best Male Singer, Best Music Composer, Best Lyricist, Best Music Arranger, and Best Music Album of 2010. For the final category, Konkani albums released in 2010 in any part of the world in any dialect are eligible for these awards.

A total of 248 applications were received this year and the top 3 nominees in each of the six categories were selected by a panel of judges. All the three top nominees will be invited to the awards ceremony and honored. The names of the winners will then be announced at the award ceremony, and each winner will be given a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a trophy.

The chief guest will be Mr. V. Manohar, the eminent music director of Kannada movies and also the music director of the Konkani movie “Ujwaadu.”

The title of Konkani Abolem will be conferred on Mrs. Joyce Ozario for her contribution to Konkani music for the past 40 years.

Eric Ozerio, the gurkaar of Mandd Sobhann; Stany Alvares, the president; Irene Rebello, the secretary; and Arun Raj Rodrigues, the coordinator were also present at the press meet.
