Mangalore Today News Network

Belthangady, Sep 1, 2026: Sub-Inspector Vinod Reddy, who had been serving with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Belthangady for nearly a year in connection with the Burude case, has been suspended in a corruption-related case.

Reddy, who was earlier serving at the Haliyal Police Station in Uttara Kannada district and was later transferred to Mundgod Police Station, was suspended on August 31.

Police suspended

The action followed the circulation of an audio clip in which discussions allegedly related to transfer dealings and monthly payments were heard. Based on the audio, Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N. ordered a preliminary inquiry, following which PSI Kiran Patil, PSI Krishna Arikere and PSI Vinod Reddy were suspended on August 31.

Although Reddy had been transferred from Haliyal Police Station to Mundgod Police Station, he continued to serve with the SIT in Belthangady from the time the state government constituted the special team in connection with the case.
