Mangalore, Jul 4: The Kalakul was launched on the occasion of the 115th monthly theatre (moinyali maanchi) organized by Mandd Sobhann at Kalaangan, Shaktinagar on July 3 Sunday. A musical concert by Roshan D’Souza of Belman also formed the highlight of the event.

Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, the renowned playwright, lyricist, director, and filmmaker, who has to his credit the super hit Tulu movie Oriyardori Asal, launched the Kalakul, an ambitious project of Kalaangan, aiming to train young theatre artistes.

Lauding Mandd Sobhann for its efforts to protect and preserve Konkani language, art, literature, and culture, Mr. Kodialbail said that Kalaangan is a temple of art and expressed regret that there was no scientific way to learn theatre art in his younger days. He urged all aspiring artists to make use of the opportunities available to them.
