Man shot dead : Woman, paramour arrested

Sullia, Aug 20, 2013 :  Police have arrested a woman and her paramour on the charges of  killing the former’s husband by shooting him dead  for opposing their extra marital affair at Kotaje in Yedamangala near Subrahmanya.

The arrested are Ratnavathi and Sunder.  They had cleverly managed to kill Hariyappa Gowda (46) and had then lodged a missing complaint with the Subrahmanya Police.

But Hariyappa Gowda’s brother Chidananda and his wife who were  not ready to believe that Hariyappa Gowda was missing informed the police officials and suspected that Hariyappa Gowda might have been murdered. Police then detained Ratnavathi and her paramour Sunder  and interrogations of the two exposed the facts.

The two revealed that Sunder had taken Hariyappa for hunting after  making him consumer alcohol and then shot him dead.

The body was then dumped in Kumaradhara river while the country gun used to eliminate Hariyappa Gowda was hidden in the cattle shed by Ratnavathi. The two it is learnt, had also got ready a fake death certificate of Hariyappa Gowda which mentioned that he had committed suicide unable to clear the debt.

The two were produced before the Sullia magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.

Hariyappa and Ratnavathi had two sons and a daughter, the youngest girl being four years old. Even  Sunder  was married and has two children.

The case was jointly investigated by Sullia and Subrahmanya police.
