Mangalore, April 13, 2012 : MV Brilliance of the Seas, a luxury cruise vessel, called at the New Mangalore Port (NMP) with 1938 passengers and 863 crew members on board. The vessel is calling at the port the second time this season, having called for the first time on April 1.
The port handled this giant cruise ship, which is 294m long, in berth number 14.
A total of 1650 passengers took a land tour of Mangalore in luxury coaches arranged by local tour operators. They visited places of interest such as the Jain Basadi, ancient temples of Mangalore, St. Aloysius Chapel, Pilikula Heritage Village, City Mall, and others.
The luxury cruise ship set sail to Goa in the evening.
Dr. P. Tamilvanan, the chairman of NMPT, said that this is the third luxury cruise ship to call at the port this fiscal year. A total of 4000 passengers arrived at Mangalore in the 3 vessels. The captains and the owners of these luxury cruise vessels expressed their appreciation of the facilities at the port and said that they would like to visit again, he said.
