Mangaluru, Feb 12, 2023: Accusing Mangalore City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath of misleading the public, former MLA JR Lobo said the MLA’s claim that he has tried to distribute 2,000 title deeds to residents is far from the truth.
He told reporters here on Saturday that, “I made efforts to declare Bengre as revenue village and give revenue survey numbers and prepare a survey map between 2013 and 2018. When applications were invited under 94CC of the Land Revenue Act, for regularisation of unauthorised occupation of government land, a total of 2,377 applications were received from Bengre. After scrutiny, title deeds were given to 1,500 applicants. Around 100 people were even given the RTC of the land. However, owing to the change in the clause for the issue of RTC for non agricultural land by the government, RTC could not be issued to all before the election in 2018,” he said.
“When 1,500 title deeds were given to residents in 2015, what is the point in claiming and distributing 2,000 title deeds by the sitting MLA?” he said. “If the MLA had any concern for fishermen, then he should have worked for their welfare by taking up the work on the third phase of the fisheries port under Mangaluru Smart City Mission,” Lobo said.
