Bantwal, Aug 13, 2025: Thieves have stolen property worth about Rs 4 lakh from the crematorium in Devinagar, Amttadi village, under the jurisdiction of the Amttadi Gram Panchayat. The theft came to light on August 11.

The stolen items include a silicon chamber used for cremations, a brass water pot, an iron ladder, an iron gate, and other articles.

The incident was discovered when locals arrived at the crematorium on August 11 for the cremation of Ittappa Poojary, a resident of the area.

Amttadi Gram Panchayat president Vijay Kumar said a complaint would be lodged at the Bantwal Town Police Station.
