Kundapur: Two persons including lecturer drown while swimming

Kundapur, May 30, 2023: Two persons including a lecturer who had been to swim in a pond near the Kandavara dumping yard at Ullur-Kadinakonda of Kandavara village, have met a watery grave.

The deceased are Rajendra Shettigar (28), lecturer at Mother Teresa College, Shankernarayana and Bharath Shettigar (15), a student of Shankernarayana High School.

 

As there was much water in the water body, locally known as Madaga, the two had stepped into the water for swimming along with four others. However, when Rajendra noticed that Bharath was drowning, he rushed to help and in the process drowned.

The deceased Rajendra had recently joined service at the Shankernarayana College. He had earlier served at a college in Mangaluru.

The fire service personnel retrieved both the bodies.
