Kundapur, June 20, 2025: In a shocking incident, a man has hacked his wife to death at Hosamutta in Hiliyana village of Brahmavar taluk on the night of June 19. It is learnt, the accused committed the act out of anger over the excessive mobile phone usage of his wife.

The deceased is Rekha (27) of Hosamutt. Police have arrested the accused husband Ganesh Poojary (42) of Kolambe village. Ganesh was a painter by profession and had married Rekha eight years ago. The couple has two children. Rekha worked in a petrol bunk.


Wife killed


It is learnt, Ganesh often picked up quarrel with Rekha over the issue of mobile phone usage.  Following a complaint earlier, Police had summoned Ganesh and had made him sign a bond.

Late night on Thursday, he had again picked up a quarrel with his wife and then hacked her with a scythe killing her on the spot.

He had later fled the scene but was soon apprehended by the police.

A case has been registered in Shankernarayana police station limits.
