Khader holds meeting on disaster management in preparation for monsoon season

Mangaluru, May 29, 2023: On Monday, May 29, U T Khader, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, convened a meeting at the circuit house to address various issues related to preventing devastation and floods during the upcoming monsoon season.

 

Following the meeting, Khader spoke to the media and stated, "The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that we take proactive measures to minimize any inconveniences that may arise during the monsoon. We have identified low-lying and hilly areas, and officials have been instructed to be fully prepared to tackle any potential situations."

"We have directed the opening of control rooms and sought assistance from local organizations. Additionally, we have engaged in discussions with the fishermen community to arrange for boats in case of emergencies."

"The animal husbandry department will receive the necessary equipment and financial assistance. Furthermore, Mescom sub-stations will be provided with extra vehicles and staff."

"It is crucial for the forest and Mescom departments to collaborate closely. Officials from these departments will be held accountable if any loss of life occurs due to negligence. We have explicitly communicated this warning to the concerned parties."

"In the event of house damages, immediate compensation of Rs 10,000 should be provided," he added.
