Kasargod,Jan 21, 2014: Over 70 students of the Jawahar Navodaya School of Periya were admitted to the Kanhangad Hospital on January 19, Sunday night after they began to suffer from vomiting and other illness no sooner they had food at the school.

According to sources, the students had taken Ganji (rice gruel) and vegetable curry. Doctors attending on the students said none of them had serious problems and that all the students are recovering.
Samples of food from the school kitchen have been collected for a lab test. Even the kitchen has been sealed. According to sources, the hostel which faced water problem had secured water from outside on Sunday.
DySP P Thamban and Deputy Commissioner PS Mohammad Sageer have also visited the school.
