Kadri police arrest laptop/bus battery thief

Mnagalore, Nov 21, 2011 :The Kadri police have arrested Muneer (19) on Nov 20 Sunday for alleged involvement in stealing batteries and laptops. On Oct 22, batteries were stolen from several Vrishaba buses parked near AJ Hospital. Ramaprasad Punja, the owner of the fleet, had lodged a complaint with the Mangalore East Police.

On Nov 20, C. Kiran, the inspector of Mangalore East Police Station, received a tip that a man was behaving in a suspicious manner near Kadri Park. He immediately passed on the tip to the police force, after which a number of police officers nabbed the man. Upon interrogation, he revealed that he and his friends had stolen a number of laptops and bus batteries in the city.

The police have confiscated 14 large batteries, a laptop, and a bus that was stolen from the grounds of AJ Hospital. In all, items worth Rs. 7,17,000 were confiscated from Muneer.

The police team comprised DCP Dharmaiah, Inspector C. Kiran, Sukumar K., Subraman K. N., Yashwanth Konchady, Veerabhadra Suratkal, and others, working under directions from Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh
