Mangaluru, Sep 8, 2025: Ramakrishna Mission resumed its monthly ‘shramadan’ under its Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan, with volunteers cleaning the premises of Kadri Main Gate and Mallikatta on Sunday.
Special attention was given to the cleaning of memorial of renowned saxophone exponent Kadri Gopalnath.
The litter and plastic waste along the roadside and surrounding areas were cleared. The volunteers also cleared shrubs and weeds. The Mallikatta Park was also cleaned.
With the collaboration of the Swacch Mangaluru Foundation, local organisations such as Yuva Friends Kadri and Kadri Youth Friends also took part in the ‘shramadan.’
Prakash B. Salian, a former councillor of Mangaluru City Corporation, said, “Community participation is very important in cleanliness activities. To build a clean city, every household should practice waste segregation and manage wet waste responsibly. Only then can we realise the dream of making Mangaluru clean and green.”
The monthly shramadan resumed after monsoon break.
