Mangalore, August 23:  “National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) will be held at national and state levels in a bid to identify young, competent leaders,” said Secretary of KPCC Shivakumar.

He was speaking to the students of SDM College, Mangalore on Aug 23, Monday. He also disclosed that he is in Mangalore according to the instructions of Rahul Gandhi, who is widely acclaimed to be the national political youth icon.

Speaking about NSUI elections, he said that it will be a transparent process, which will give first the highest importance to the nation.

He also stated that the media’s threat to boycott CM B. S. Yeddyurappa’s programmes in the city proves the might of the media as the fourth estate.

Speaking against the move to remove election processes from colleges, he said that election processes serve to train the students to contribute to the wellbeing of the nation.

A person cannot be considered to be a political leader just because he holds political power, he declared. He also encouraged the youth to create changes for the better in society.

Rojith John, the in-charge of the Central Executive Committee, NSUI, thanked Shivkumar. Jossy John, the district returning officer; Dipen Kumar, the DK DRO; Congress leaders U. T. Khader, Vijaya Kumar, Mithun Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Kripa Alva, Ivan D’Souza, G. A. Bava, Hasanabba; and many others were present for the programme.
